Padded Angled Seat for Perching Support

The Malling uses a deliberately angled padded seat rather than a conventional level seating position. This forward-sloping setup forms part of the stool’s intended design and should be retained when adjusting the leg height.

Arm Supports and Plain Metal Backrest

VG835 is the Malling configuration with arm supports and a plain metal backrest. This distinguishes it from the VG837 version, which combines the arm supports with a padded backrest.

The padded seat is heat sealed to provide an easy-clean surface without open seams that can trap dirt.

Height-Adjustable Frame

Each leg incorporates an extension section and retaining E-clip for height adjustment. All legs should be adjusted correctly while preserving the intended forward slope of the stool.

Side-mounted stress bars add strength and stability to the frame, while the stool supports a maximum user weight of 159kg (25 stone).

Easy-Clean Construction

The Malling range uses a coated mild-steel frame with CMHR foam and fire-retardant vinyl on upholstered seating surfaces. The seat can be cleaned using the manufacturer’s recommended mild detergent or disinfectant method.

Important: Aidapt states that the stool should be installed by a competent person and that an assessment may be required to confirm suitability for the individual user. The stool should be used indoors on an even surface.

Using and Caring for the Malling Perching Stool

Correct setup, height adjustment and regular safety checks are important when using the Malling Perching Stool. The guidance below follows Aidapt's instructions for the VG835 and wider Malling range.

Before use: Aidapt states that the stool should be installed by a competent person and that an assessment may be required to determine suitability for the individual user. Do not use the stool if you notice visible damage or suspect a fault.

Adjusting the Height

1. Remove the E-clip from each extension leg.

2. Extend the legs evenly to the required height without going beyond the final punched adjustment hole.

3. Refit each E-clip through the extension leg and product frame.

4. Check that every E-clip is securely positioned around the outside leg before using the stool.

Do not level the seat: The Malling Perching Stool is intentionally designed to slope forwards. Aidapt warns that adjusting the legs to make the seat level can place excessive stress on the frame, potentially causing damage and compromising user safety.

Moving and Positioning the Stool

When moving the stool, lift it using the tubular metal frame beneath the seat rather than dragging it across the floor.

• Use the stool indoors on an even surface.

• Do not use it outside the home or on uneven surfaces such as garden ground.

• Do not rock forwards, backwards or sideways while using the stool.

• Do not place fingers or foreign objects inside exposed tubular sections of the frame.

Cleaning

Clean the stool using a mild detergent or mild disinfectant with a slightly damp, soft cloth.

After cleaning, wipe the product with a dry, soft cloth where required.

Cleaning care: Never use an abrasive cleaner and do not leave the stool in direct contact with a heat source.

Regular Safety Checks

• Check nuts, bolts and other fitted components for security.

• Inspect the padded seat for security, splits or exposed fittings.

• Check the frame and leg adjustment points if you have any concerns.

• Stop using the stool and contact your supplier if you suspect a fault.
