JAY Balance with Cryo Fluid
The JAY Balance Cryo Fluid combines the proven JAY Balance wheelchair cushion platform with Sunrise Medical’s patented Cryo Fluid insert. The system is designed for users who require a high level of skin protection together with configurable seating support.
Cryo Fluid actively draws heat away from the seated skin surface while the cushion manages pressure distribution and shear. Sunrise Medical states that the cooling effect can last for up to 8 hours under its internal test conditions.

Designed Around Four Seating-Related Risk Factors
Sunrise Medical developed the Cryo Fluid system around four factors associated with wheelchair seating and skin protection: pressure, shear, temperature and moisture.
• Pressure: the Cryo Fluid insert is designed to distribute pressure across the seating surface.
• Shear: a 4-way stretch cover helps reduce shear forces between the cover and Cryo Fluid insert.
• Temperature: Cryo Fluid actively draws heat away from the seated skin surface.
• Moisture: reducing seated skin temperature can help reduce the likelihood of localised perspiration.
Configurable JAY Balance Platform
Cryo Fluid is one insert option available within the JAY Balance platform. JAY Balance can also be configured with JAY Flow Fluid or an air insert, allowing the seating system to be selected according to individual requirements.
Optional positioning components are also available to support pelvic and thigh positioning for different clinical applications.
Dual-Cover System
JAY Balance uses an inner and outer cover system designed to balance microclimate management with practical incontinence management. Microclimatic, Incontinence and Stretch cover options are available.

Cryo Fluid transfers heat away from the seated skin surface and is designed to maintain a mildly cooled seating interface.
Sunrise Medical’s internal testing found that the Cryo Fluid cooling effect can continue for up to eight hours under the specified test conditions.
The insert is designed to envelop prominent areas of the pelvis and distribute pressure across the seating surface.
A 4-way stretch cover helps reduce shear forces between the cushion cover and Cryo Fluid insert.
Cryo Fluid is engineered to mildly cool seated skin within Sunrise Medical’s stated therapeutic temperature range.
Lower seated skin temperatures can help reduce the likelihood of moisture associated with localised perspiration.
