An ultra-lightweight folding carbon wheelchair designed for active manual mobility. The QUICKIE Krypton F combines a carbon fibre frame, compact folding cross-brace and extensive seating adjustment, with lightweight configurations starting from 8.3kg.
QUICKIE Krypton F Folding Carbon Wheelchair
The QUICKIE Krypton F is a highly configurable active wheelchair designed to combine the convenience of a folding frame with the low weight and rigidity of carbon fibre construction.
Its formed cross-brace sits neatly beneath the seat to retain a clean, open-frame appearance while allowing the wheelchair to fold for transport and storage. Sunrise Medical lists Krypton F configurations starting from 8.3kg, with a dismantled weight from 5.8kg.

Lightweight Carbon Fibre Construction
The Krypton F uses aerospace-engineered carbon fibre and QUICKIE’s seamless carbon BRAID manufacturing technology. The automated braiding process allows the frame structure to be engineered for strength where required while keeping unnecessary material and weight to a minimum.
Sunrise Medical describes the Krypton F as its lightest carbon folding wheelchair, with the published starting weight based on a specific lightweight configuration.
Folding Frame for Easier Transport
Unlike the rigid Krypton R, the Krypton F uses an open-front folding frame with a formed cross-brace beneath the seat. Rear wheels, sideguards and hangers can also be removed where fitted to reduce the wheelchair for transport.
Configured Around the User
The Krypton F offers seat widths from 320–460mm and seat depths from 340–480mm, both in 20mm increments. Front and rear seat heights, backrest height, backrest angle and wheel camber can also be configured within the available manufacturer ranges.
Rear wheel options include 24″ and 25″ sizes, with 3″, 4″, 5″ and 6″ front castor options listed by Sunrise Medical. Available features and combinations depend on the final wheelchair configuration.
About the 8.3kg Starting Weight
The manufacturer’s 8.3kg starting figure is based on a lightweight configuration with a 360mm seat width, 400mm seat depth, slim-style carbon sideguard, superlight upholstery, lightweight compact brake, carbon backrest and no push handles. The weight of your finished Krypton F will depend on the selected configuration and options.
Carbon Finish Options
The carbon frame can be personalised with several manufacturer finish options, including clear coat gloss, clear coat matt, matt or gloss black, and natural carbon.
The natural carbon option is supplied without the additional coating and Sunrise Medical states that this reduces the wheelchair weight by approximately 100g compared with a coated finish.
Vehicle transport: Sunrise Medical does not approve the Krypton F for use as an occupied wheelchair seat during transport in a motor vehicle. When transporting the unoccupied wheelchair in a vehicle, it should be securely restrained.

Configuration Note
Not all options are compatible with every configuration. Final dimensions, wheelchair weight and available features will depend on the selected setup.
Using and Caring for the QUICKIE Krypton F
The Krypton F uses specialist carbon fibre components and a configurable folding frame, so correct handling and regular inspection are important. Follow the instructions supplied with your individual wheelchair configuration.
Before Use
• Check the wheelchair and carbon components for visible damage before use.
• Check that the rear wheels are correctly fitted and locked in position.
• Check that the brakes operate correctly.
• Check tyres for wear or damage and maintain pneumatic tyres at the pressure specified on the tyre where applicable.
• Make sure folding and removable components are correctly secured before using the wheelchair.
Folding the Krypton F
The Krypton F uses a folding cross-brace beneath the seat. Before folding, remove the seat cushion where fitted and flip up the footplate or individual footplates as appropriate for the wheelchair configuration.
Folding the Wheelchair
1. Make sure the wheelchair is unoccupied and positioned securely.
2. Remove the seat cushion where fitted and move the footplate or footplates out of the way.
3. Grasp the seat sling from underneath at the centre and pull upwards.
4. Continue folding until the wheelchair reaches its compact folded position.
Unfolding the Wheelchair
1. Position yourself to the side of the wheelchair.
2. Press down on the seat tubes until the wheelchair is fully unfolded.
3. Check that the cross-brace and seat are fully open and correctly positioned.
4. Return the footplate or footplates to the required position and replace the seat cushion where fitted.
Folding care: Keep fingers away from the folding mechanism and moving frame components while folding or unfolding the wheelchair to reduce the risk of trapping them.
Removing and Refitting the Rear Wheels
The rear wheels use quick-release axles and can be removed to reduce the wheelchair for transport.
When refitting a rear wheel, insert the quick-release axle fully into the axle sleeve and check that the wheel is securely locked before using the wheelchair. Never use the chair if a rear wheel is not correctly engaged.
Caring for the Carbon Frame
Carbon fibre requires different care from conventional metal wheelchair tubing. Inspect the carbon surfaces regularly for signs of damage and take particular care after an impact or accident.
Carbon components: Do not drill, mechanically alter or otherwise modify carbon fibre components. If a carbon component appears damaged, stop using the wheelchair and arrange appropriate specialist inspection or repair.
Cleaning the Carbon Components
Clean carbon components using a damp cloth.
Do not use solvents or solvent-based cleaning products on the carbon components.
General Cleaning
Clean dirty frame components with a damp cloth. Upholstery and other components should be cleaned in accordance with the instructions supplied for the individual wheelchair configuration.
After cleaning, make sure the wheelchair and its components are dry before normal use or storage.
Regular Maintenance
• Check brakes regularly for correct operation.
• Inspect tyres and wheels for wear or damage.
• Check quick-release rear wheel axles for correct engagement.
• Check the folding mechanism and other moving parts.
• Inspect the carbon frame and components for visible damage.
• Arrange professional inspection or servicing if you notice damage, excessive wear or a change in wheelchair performance.
Transporting the Krypton F
For easier handling when transporting the unoccupied wheelchair, the Krypton F can be folded and removable components such as the rear wheels, hangers and sideguards can be removed where fitted.
Sunrise Medical lists a dismantled starting weight of 5.8kg, although the actual transport weight will depend on the individual configuration and which components have been removed.
Vehicle transport: The Krypton F is not approved for use as an occupied wheelchair seat in a motor vehicle. When transporting the unoccupied wheelchair, secure it appropriately so that it cannot move during the journey.
